Groundbreaking for Major Transportation Route: Christopher’s Crossing Through Sanner Farm
On September 28, 2018, Mayor Michael O’Connor and guests broke ground for the section of Christopher’s Crossing between Clover Ridge and Walter Martz Road. This segment connects the existing endpoint of Christopher’s Crossing in Clover Ridge to the intersection of Walter Martz Road and Poole Jones Road. Christopher’s Crossing ultimately extends from U.S. 15 north of the City to U.S. 40 west of the City. The construction contract was awarded to C. William Hetzer Inc. for $4,929,54485, with completion expected in June of 2020.
This connection is essential to the future development of the City-owned Sanner Farm, which includes multiple public facilities and is vital to providing multiple safe and efficient connections from residential areas in the northwest to downtown Frederick and U.S. 15, Mayor O’Connor said.
This infrastructure will make a big difference to commuters in the Christopher’s Crossing neighborhood, and others in NAC 3,” Mayor O’Connor said. “It’s a great day when we can work on much-needed public infrastructure.
