Frederick is committed to supporting and growing green jobs - from the USDA-Certified organic products of Terressentials or the natural and green salon practices of Natural Fusion Hair Studio, to the biodiesel fuel R&D of Chesapeake Green Fuels , clean, green and sustainable will play an important role in Frederick's industry base over the next decade.

In support of growing and nurturing this emerging industry sector, FITCI - traditionally a bioscience and IT business incubator - has added the green industry as a new focus for the incubator program. The first "green" tenant - UR Solar Power - opened their FITCI offices in June 2009 and have graduated and are in their own space in Downtown Frederick.
