Yard & Leaf Waste
  • Yard Waste/ Stormwater Updated Information

The City of Frederick Department of Public Works will begin the annual leaf collection campaign on Monday, October 24, 2016.

The program will run through Friday, December 23rd, using vacuum leaf collectors, street sweepers and rubber tire loaders with dump trucks.  Leaves will be collected in all areas at least five times throughout this period.  All city residents may begin to set out leaves for collection on Sunday, October 23.

The last date for residents to set leaves out for collection is December 18, 2016.  Due to unpredictable weather and volume of leaves, the department cannot set a dedicated schedule for leaf collection.  The department asks people to use off street parking during this time if available.

Residents are asked not to rake large leaf piles into the streets before October 23 to avoid overloading the street sweepers.  Residents are reminded that leaves in acceptable yard waste bags may be put out with yard waste that is collected twice a month.

Friendly reminders from DPW:
  • Leaves can be put out with your twice a month yard waste if put in acceptable bags.
  • Spraying the piles down with water will help keep them from blowing away during periods of high winds.
  • Please use off street parking during this time if available.

For more information regarding leaf and/or yard waste collection please contact the Department of Public Works at 301-600-1440.
