Residential Recycling
Frederick County Government provides biweekly recycling collection for residents of single family households.  For more information on residential recycling, including what can and cannot be recycled, how to obtain a cart, and what to do in case of missed pickups, please visit Frederick County Recycling.

The County does not provide recycling service or trash collection for businesses - which includes multi-family housing units.  These entities may contract for individual recycling service and can receive assistance from the County in doing so.  For more information on business recycling opportunities, please visit Frederick County Business Recycling.

General Guidelines for Recycling:
Carts need to be placed curbside by 6:00am on the designated collection day.  There is no recycling collection on the following holidays: New Years Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.  If your collection day falls on one of these holidays, or if your recycling pickup is canceled due to inclement weather, your collection will shift one day later than usual.  Please listen to your local radio station or call the recycling office for weather related cancelations.  Updates and helpful recycling information are also regularly posted online at the Office of Recycling's Facebook page.

Participation
A blue recycling bin or cart is required for service.  Please call 301-600-2960 to request a recycling container.  Three sizes of carts are available.  Materials are not accepted in plastic bags.

Customer Service
Curbside collection and customer relations are provided by the County's contracted service provider, Allied Waste Services.  Residents may call 301-694-6498 or send email.  For other issues or general inquiries regarding recycling, The Office of Recycling may be contacted at 301-600-2960 or by sending an email.

Other County Recycling and Solid Waste Disposal Programs
In addition to curbside recycling, Frederick County offers several other recycling programs available to all residents.  Items that can be recycled include: Yard waste, wood pallets, used motor oil, antifreeze, large appliances, scrap metal, tires, electronics and computers, lead-acid batteries, foam padding and bulky rigid plastics.  For more information on these programs, as well as all services, policies and information provided by the County Department of Solid Waste Management, please visit their website.
