METAL THEFT
During the past year metal theft has increased throughout the United States. As with most law enforcement agencies, the Frederick Police Department has encountered an increase in this crime pattern.
Recyclable metals have become an ever-valuable commodity. Across the country copper, aluminum, and other metals have been stolen from construction sites, construction yards, electrical and plumbing companies, and structures with ground wires. During the past few months the Frederick Police have been called to copper pipe, aluminum stock, and metal fencing thefts.
Chief Dine and the Frederick Police Department is asking to partner with Frederick’s citizens in counteracting this crime pattern. If you see vehicle headlights at night on a construction site, if you detect suspicious activity, people, or vehicles in areas where metals are used or stored, please call the Frederick Police Department at 301 600-2100 or 301 600-2102.
