Blight Abatement Initiative
In
December of 2000 the Code Enforcement Department unveiled
a new Blight Abatement Initiative that would target residential
buildings that were neglected and in a deteriorated state.
The programs goal would be to restore, maintain and preserve
the existing housing stock which would ultimately help
to improve the quality of life for all its citizens. In
January 2001, the department expanded its initiative to
include commercial properties and then concentrated its
efforts on the top ten deteriorated buildings in each
category.
