Motor Vehicle Accident Reports Investigated by the Frederick Police Department Available On-Line
Staring June 1st citizens along with their insurance companies can now obtain a copy of their motor vehicle accident reports on-line through http://frederickmd.policereports.us/. While there is a slight increase in the cost of the reports, the price went from $3.00 a report to $5.00, the ease will make up for the cost. Using technology and software provided by PoliceReports.US, LLC, citizens can now access police reports from a computer by using Internet. While the reports are still available from the police department’s Records Section, citizens now have the option of using this new process.
Starting June 1, accident reports generated on 04/01/2006 and forward, can be accessed by going directly to the site listed above or via the City of Frederick’s website, http://www.cityoffrederick.com/police. To search for a report, enter either the report number, date of the accident, location, or driver’s name. After submitting a credit card number for payment, the report can then be printed immediately, at home or at the office. Should you require a report older than this date, you can still retrieve it electronically by calling the Frederick Police Department Records Section at (301) 600-2127 and it can be uploaded within a matter of seconds. Because this is a self-service feature, available anytime of the day or week, members of the public should expend less time and effort to obtain the reports they need.
Electronic distribution of accident reports via the web will allow the police department to be more efficient while providing a higher level of customer service. Citizens will be able to obtain reports online (normally within 72-hours of the accident) instead of waiting in line.
