Your
message of either concern or praise regarding an officer's
actions in his/her everyday responsibilities is very
important to the Division continuing our tradition
of excellence. Interaction with any sworn or civilian
member which resulted in either your dissatisfaction
or pleasure is very important to us. Citizens are
encouraged to contact the Professional Standards Division
in all such matters. Thorough and objective investigations
always follow complaints made about our employees,
and you will be notified in writing at the conclusion
of any internal investigation. Also, your appreciative
comments or letters will be passed along to the referenced
employee, and such praise will be noted in his/her
personnel file.
The Mission of the Professional Standards Division lays
out the responsibilities of the unit:
"to
ensure the professionalism, honesty, and integrity
of the Department through inspectional processes,
investigation and/or oversight of allegations of misconduct,
and the training of personnel in their personal and
professional responsibility to adhere to the Law Enforcement
Code of Ethics and the standards set forth by the
Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies,
Inc."
