"The mission of the Frederick Police Department is to provide professional Police services in partnership with our community."

Overview

Divided into three bureaus, Administrative, Operations and Support Services, the Department provides twenty-four hour a day, seven day a week law enforcement services for the nearly fifty-three thousand residents of Frederick’s approximately twenty square miles. The Administrative and the Operations Bureaus are commanded by captains while the Support Services is managed by a civilian director. Six lieutenants and two civilian managers oversee the Department’s eight Divisions. Six independent squads, working ten and a half hour shifts, each supervised by a sergeant and a corporal, provide continuous crime prevention and calls for service coverage.
