WITH THE FREDERICK POLICE DEPARTMENT, YOU WILL NOT ONLY RECEIVE THE BEST TRAINING OFFERED BY A MARYLAND CERTIFIED POLICE ACADEMY, BUT YOU CAN ALSO EARN A COLLEGE DEGREE AT THE SAME TIME!

THE ASSOCIATE OF APPLIED SCIENCE DEGREE IN POLICE SCIENCE is a career-orientated degree offered by Frederick Community College in conjunction with the Frederick Police Department’s Police Academy. This degree helps to prepare the graduate to function as an entry-level police officer with local law enforcement agencies.

The curriculum was developed as a result of a partnership between the Frederick Police Department and Frederick Community College. Student officers who have been selected and hired by the Frederick Police Department will complete 21 credits required of general education and 40 credits of police science courses in the Police Academy Program run by local law enforcement agencies in accordance with the Maryland Police Training Commission (MPTC).
