What's New

Updated March 2008

1. The City’s Standard Unit Costs have been updated. See Applications and Forms for an updated copy.

2. The Engineering Checklist for improvement plan submittals has been revised. See
Applications and Forms for an updated copy.

2. The Water Master Plan Update has been drafted by Dayton & Knight, Ltd. and will
be presented to the Mayor and Board in the coming months.

3. The design of the Monocacy Boulevard Center Section Part 1 has been awarded to the
consulting firm of Fox and Associates.

4. FEMA Floodplain Maps have been revised effective September 2007. The maps
can be reviewed on the City Home Page under “Maps”.

5. As of February 4, the Engineering Department is pleased to welcome Ms. Taeko Wakasono as the Project Engineer – Land Development. Ms. Wakasono graduated from Penn State University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. Ms. Wakasono was previously employed in York, Pennsylvania and has experience with commercial and residential land development. Ms. Wakasono will review development plans for compliance with applicable codes and will also assist the department with capital projects.

6. As of March 19, the Engineering Department is pleased to welcome Mr. Rick Albee as the Project Manager – Hydrology and Hydraulics. Mr. Albee graduated Mr. Albee graduated from West Virginia University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. Mr. Albee was previously employed by a local engineering consultant specializing in land development with an emphasis on hydrology and hydraulics. He also has experience with project permitting and approvals through State agencies. Mr. Albee’s responsibilities with the Engineering Department will include project management of City projects specifically dealing with Hydrology and Hydraulics, reviewing and making recommendations upon complex floodplain and stormwater management issues, and obtaining necessary permits from FEMA, the Army Corps of Engineers and MDE.
