LANDFILL STARTS NEW ELECTRONICS RECYCLING PROGRAM

The Frederick County Department of Solid Waste Management today announced a permanent electronics drop-off site at the Citizens Convenience Center located within the Landfill at 9031 Reichs Ford Road, Frederick, MD. This program provides an environmentally friendly alternative to disposal of electronic waste for both residents and businesses in Frederick County.

Acceptable items include central processing units, circuit boards, computer chips/cards, cables, monitors, mice, keyboards, laptops, printers, scanners, power supplies, cell phones and televisions. Contractor for the new service, Computer Donation Management, Inc., will recycle computer equipment, televisions and related peripherals. Their goal is to recycle as much equipment as economically feasible.

A fee of $2.95 for each 100 pounds ($59 per ton) of electronics will be charged to help offset a portion of the cost of the program. Items may be dropped off from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday at the Landfill.
