Biography of the Director

Michael R. Spurrier, a Frederick native, currently serves as the Director of the Frederick Community Action Agency. Mr. Spurrier began his career in human services by serving as a VISTA volunteer at Morningside Emergency Shelter in Brattleboro, Vermont. After completion of his VISTA service, Mr. Spurrier worked as a soup kitchen cook at the Keene Community Kitchen in Keene, New Hampshire. He later served as the Outreach Director at Southeastern Vermont Community Action Agency in Bellows Falls, Vermont and returned to Frederick in 1988 to begin employment at the Frederick Community Action Agency. In 1996, Mr. Spurrier completed national certification to become a Certified Community Action Professional (CCAP).
