UTILITIES PLANNING

Services Include:
  • Responsible for developing medium and long-range, infrastructure (water, sewer, drainage) planning for the City.
  • Developing water, sewer, drainage master plans to guide infrastructure development and growth of the City.
  • Process requests for compliance with Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance (APFO) and water / sewer allocation (LMC Chapter 742).
  • Provide assistance to citizens in the evaluation of drainage and flooding problems and resolve those for which the City is responsible.

 

Completed Projects
  • Water Master Plan update - adopted by Mayor and Board Sept., 2009.
  • Completed analysis of Future Water and Sewer Service Demand and Capacity (GIS based).
  • Update process and fees associated with utility service and infrastructure development.
  • Site and Construction Plans for Carroll Creek Pump Station Number 3 Upgrade project.  

 

Current Projects
  • Provide technical assistance for Gas House Pike Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade project.
  • Provide technical assistance for Monocacy Water Treatment Plant – Upgrade and Groundwater Blending project.
  • Potomac River Water Supply - distribute and offer allocations for upcoming County capacity release.
  • Update Water and Sewer Allocation Regulations.

 

Future Projects
  • Wastewater treatment capacity procurement.
  • Wastewater Master Plan Update.
  • GIS Development and Coordination with Master Plan Updates and systems modeling.
  • Assist in the preparation of a Stormwater Master Plan.
  • Assist with Federal/State grant procurement where available for City infrastructure projects.
