Mission Statement

"The mission of the Frederick Police Department is to provide professional Police services in partnership with our community."

Overview

Divided into three bureaus, Special Services, Operational Services, and Technical Services, the Department provides twenty-four hour a day, seven day a week law enforcement services for the nearly sixty-three thousand residents of Frederick’s Approximately twenty square miles. The Special Services and the Operational Services Bureaus are commanded by captains while the Technical Services Bureau is managed by a civilian director. Eight lieutenants and two civilian managers oversee the Department’s nine Divisions. Six independent squads, working ten and a half hour shifts, each supervised by a sergeant and a corporal, provide continuous crime prevention and calls for service coverage.
