Urban
Business Locations
Carroll
Creek Park, a 1.3 mile, linear, mixed-use park, is centrally
located within Frederick's historic business district.
The Park, developed as part of a 15-year, $65 million
flood control project, allows for new construction on
City-owned parcels ranging from .45 to 4.32 acres. Potential
uses include convention center / hotel facility, office,
retail, residential, and recreation. Because Carroll
Creek Park spans the historic business district, it
offers pedestrian access to major downtown services
and facilities such as the County Courthouse, City Hall,
Public Library, Post Office, City Police Department,
as well as restaurants, retail shops, art galleries,
and the City's 44 acre municipal park. Carroll Creek
Park is headquarters to the City's major transportation
services, which include Greyhound Bus Terminal, Frederick
County's public TransIT bus service and MARC Rail service,
providing commuter rail transport to Washington, D.C.

"Business
opportunities in downtown Frederick have never been better."
-Bert Anderson, Everedy Square / Shab Row |
|
Adaptive
Reuse
Frederick's inventory of commercial properties includes
an assortment of magnificent 19th and early 20th century
buildings located throughout the City's historic business
district. In recent years, many of Frederick's original
service, factory, and warehouse buildings have been
converted into award-winning office, restaurant, retail,
and residential locations. Many more such properties
await the vision of creative entrepreneurs.
Retail
Space
More than 3 million square feet of retail space exists
within The City of Frederick with 2.5 million more in
the immediate vicinity.
This includes two regional malls totaling 1.5 million
square feet. Tremendous choice exists in terms of location,
square footage, and character. Site selectors have many
options ranging from traditional mall and strip center
settings, to new construction and adapted historic properties
in the downtown business district.
