CERTIFIED ECONOMIC DEVELOPER DESIGNATION EARNED BY GRIFFIN & GRAMM
City of Frederick Department of Economic Development
The City of Frederick, MD -- Richard G. Griffin, Director, and Heather Gramm, Business Development Specialist, both with the City of Frederick Department of Economic Development (DED), have earned the designation of Certified Economic Developer (CEcD). This is a national recognition that denotes a mastery of principal skills in economic development, professional attainment and a commitment to personal and professional growth. Mr. Griffin and Mrs. Gramm recently passed the CEcD exam, which was administered by the International Economic Development Council located in Phoenix, AZ.
Both Mr. Griffin and Mrs. Gramm have worked for the Department of Economic Development for five years. Prior to joining DED, Mr. Griffin served as the Executive Director for the Downtown Frederick Partnership and as a Planner for Loudon County, amassing over 17 years experience. Mr. Griffin graduated with a Masters in Planning from Clemson University and Cum Laude with a BS in Land Planning from Western Carolina University.
Mrs. Gramm has worked for DED as an Economic Development Specialist before being promoted to her current role as Business Development Specialist. Prior to joining DED, she also worked for the Downtown Frederick Partnership She holds a BA from Hood College, in Business Administration and Marketing.
The CEcD designation recognizes qualified and dedicated practitioners in the economic development field and sets the standard of excellence within the profession. As highly competent economic development practitioners, Certified Economic Developers work with public officials, business leaders and community members to create leadership to build upon and maximize the economic development sector. Excellence in the economic development profession improves the well-being, quality of life and opportunities for individuals, businesses and communities. There are currently more than 1,200 CEcDs in the United States.
The International Economic Development Council is the premiere organization for the economic development profession. Serving more than 4,000 members, IEDC is the world’s largest professional membership organization providing a diversity of economic development services, including research and advisory services, conferences, professional development and legislative tracking. The City of Frederick is a proud member of this organization.
