SHADOWS & IRON - A Partnership in Art
Mary G. Garwood & Griffith L. Garwood

Frederick, MD -- The Weinberg Center for the Arts in Frederick, Maryland will be featuring the work of two local artists, husband and wife Mary G. and Griffith L. Garwood, during October and November. A reception will be held on Saturday, October 6th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Weinberg Center located at 20 West Patrick St in Frederick, Maryland.

Mary and Griff Garwood both produce art, but have different perspectives. Mary is a watercolorist. Griff is a welder. Mary is a serious dedicated artist. Griff considers himself a dabbler. Mary has taken classes for many years both locally and abroad. Griff has dipped into the programs at the Corcoran and Maryland Institute College of Art. Griff’s art is big, heavy and rough at times – the quality of weighty metal and toughness, but sometimes with a hint of humor. Mary’s is light and soft and focuses on fleeting moments of beauty. Both have been recognized in juried shows. Although their art is different, they share a common feeling that its creation is a bridge to a world beyond the everyday and mundane. The pleasure it may give to others is incidental to the personal feeling it gives to each of them in representing something special – often unexplainable - in the world around them. For information about this show at the Weinberg, and its other offerings, call 301-600-2828.
