MAYOR APPOINTS DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS/CITY ENGINEER
Frederick, Md. -- Mayor Jeff Holtzinger is pleased to announce the appointment of Zack Kershner, P.E., to the position of Deputy Director of Public Works/City Engineer. Mr. Kershner joined the City in October 2006 as Assistant City Engineer- Design and has been working on the Monocacy Boulevard Extension and Gas House Pike Improvements as well as several design projects. He has been serving in the position of Acting Deputy Director of Engineering/City Engineer since August 2007.
Mr. Kershner graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University with a B.S. in Mining and Minerals Engineering and holds Professional Engineering Licenses in the States of Maryland and Virginia. Mr. Kershner’s background spans both the private sector as well as municipal government. Mr. Kershner served the City of Leesburg, Virginia as a Senior Engineer, the City of Rockville, Maryland as a Project Engineer in the Environmental Division and as a Project Manager for a local, private consulting firm.
Mr. Kershner will oversee the Engineering Department which includes development review, surveying, mapping, traffic engineering and utility planning.

He is very well respected by his colleagues in municipal government as well as in the private sector. I know Zack will serve in the best interests of the City of Frederick.”
