CITY OF FREDERICK TO HOST GERMAN SISTER CITY DELEGATION

Frederick, Md. -- Mayor William J. Holtzinger is pleased to announce that on Thursday, October 18, 2007, an 11 member delegation from our Sister Cities of Schifferstadt and Morzheim Germany will arrive to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of our relationship as a Sister City. Heading the delegation will be Burgermeister Klau Sattel and Ursula Heberger, Vice Mayor to Rhineland-Pfalz and President of Friends of Frederick. Other members of the delegation include Council members Ilona Volk, Karl Spindler and Ulrich Schwind as well as Gwynnie Mantel, a representative of Morzheim. Emil Geier, owner of the daily newspaper, Schifferstadt Tagblatt, as well as several of the paper’s journalists will also be in attendance.

During the week long visit, a number of local families from Frederick Sister Cities will host members of the delegation. Trips to Lancaster County and Washington D.C. are planned along with tours of the City of Frederick and surrounding areas. In addition, a visit to Schifferstadt Architectural Museum is planned for this weekend during the Oktoberfest festivities.

In June 2007, a 17 member delegation traveled from Frederick to our German Sister Cities to kick off the 25th Anniversary celebration. This visit will conclude the commemoration festivities.
