MAYOR DECLARES WATER EMERGENCY FOR THE CITY OF FREDERICK
Mandatory Water Restrictions Implemented
_____________________________________________________________________
Frederick, MD -- Due to the continuing dry conditions in our area, Mayor William J. Holtzinger has formally declared a water emergency for The City of Frederick effective immediately and will begin implementing mandatory water restrictions.
Pursuant to the “declaration of water emergency” as noted in The City of Frederick Code, the use of water from The City of Frederick’s municipal water system will be suspended for the following; operating of fountains, bathhouses, swimming pools, pavement washers, and watering/washing of pavements, streets, lawns, flowers, shrubbery, gardens etc., for the washing of cars and other vehicles. Mayor Holtzinger is asking all residents to curtail the use of water for purposes other than ordinary household, domestic and culinary purposes. Please note that the mandatory restriction of water use is not intended for commercial car wash facilities as recycled water is often used by these commercial businesses.
For clarification of the mandatory water restrictions, please call 301.600.1681 or 301.600.1188.
The City of Frederick has and will continue to work closely with Frederick County to ensure adequate water is available to residents.
