LIGHT THE CREEK KICKS-OFF THE 25th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF IN THE STREET!
IN THE STREET festivities begin early this year with LIGHT THE CREEK on Friday, October 5th. This brand new event, to be held on Carroll Creek Linear Park in downtown Frederick, officially kicks-off the 25th Anniversary celebration of the IN THE STREET festival. Hours of the event are 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. with free admission.
LIGHT THE CREEK will feature food, beer and wine, and a performance by The Deanna Bogart Band. Blues and boogie singer Deanna Bogart has received rave reviews since she began performing, but she says The Washington Post described her best with just three words: Luster, Sophistication, and Soul. She is a one-of-a-kind artist, whose combination of 1930’s-style boogie piano blues and modern blues from New Orleans, Chicago and Memphis is as unique as she is.
The event will feature a unique opportunity to support one of twelve local non-profits based right here in Frederick County. Purchase a floating luminary on behalf of one of the pre-approved non-profits and launch it in to the Creek. Before the night is over, one luminary will be randomly selected. The lucky non-profit it was purchased on behalf of will walk away with all of the proceeds from the luminary sales! Following is a list of the non-profits participating in LIGHT THE CREEK: Advocates for Homeless Families, Inc., CALM, Inc., The Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center, Frederick Arts Council, Frederick Children’s Chorus, Frederick Festival of the Arts, Frederick High School Safe and Sane Committee, Goodwill Industries, Habitat for Humanity, Hope Alive, Inc., Mission of Mercy and Volunteer Frederick.
