BULK TRASH COLLECTION SET FOR APRIL
Frederick, Md. --- As a reminder, the City of Frederick Semi-Annual Bulk Trash Collection is scheduled for April 2007. Crews from the Department of Public Works will pick up bulk waste that has been set in the City right of way and meets all criteria. Items not meeting these criteria will be left behind and tagged with the disposal responsibility falling back to the resident.
The bulk collection has been divided into two areas. In some cases, the waste material will stay out for three days before it can be collected.
Collection for AREA 1 includes all areas of town EAST of Route 15. All items in Area 1 must be set out by Tuesday, April 10, 2007. Collection will begin Wednesday, April 11, 2007 and will be completed by Saturday, April 14, 2007.
Collection for AREA 2 includes all areas of town WEST of Route 15. All items in Area 2 must be set out by Tuesday, April 17, 2007. Collection will begin Wednesday, April 18, 2007 and will be completed by Saturday, April 21, 2007.
Acceptable materials include: Small amounts of building materials, other acceptable wood products will be collected if cut into no longer than four (4) foot lengths and tied into bundles not exceeding twenty-five (25) pounds in weight (yard waste will NOT be collected), televisions and electronic equipment, steel pipe, furniture and appliances. Note: It is the homeowner's responsibility to remove any hazardous materials, i.e., refrigerants (gasses), from air conditioning and refrigeration units.
Unacceptable materials consist of: Household hazardous wastes such as paint, pesticides, solvents, antifreeze, motor oil, chemicals; tires and batteries; items longer than 7 feet in any dimension; yard waste, all other tree waste, and all land clearing debris, any individual item weighing over one hundred fifty (150) pounds; concrete, asphalt, stones, dirt, sod; rolls of chain link fence (unless cut into lengths no longer than four (4) feet long); propane tanks; oil tanks; compressed gas cylinders; medical waste; automobiles or automobile parts such as engines, radiators, transmissions, fenders, doors, gas tanks; any wood with nails, screws, hinges, or other metal or foreign objects contained therein; metal fence posts with concrete attached; building materials left by a private contractor; construction and demolition waste except as specified in subsection (e) of Section 10-21. General Service Restrictions of the City’s Solid Waste Management Code.
Materials not eligible for the City’s bulk trash collection can be disposed of at the Frederick County Landfill. For further information contact the Frederick County Landfill at 301-600-1848.
