FCAA ANNOUNCES OPEN ENROLLMENT FOR

THE ACCESS TO CARE PROGRAM

Frederick, Md. --- The Frederick Community Action Agency (FCAA) is pleased to announce that the new Access to Care (ATC) Program will begin accepting patients on April 1, 2007.  Adults and children who are uninsured and have total household incomes at or below 200% of the federal poverty level (FPL), as adjusted for the size of the family, are eligible to enroll in the Access to Care (ATC) Program.  For example, a family of four (4) with a total household income of $40,000 or less would be eligible for enrollment in the ATC Program.  The 2007 Federal Poverty Guidelines for 200% of the federal poverty level are included below.  The Access to Care Program is open to the public, but all persons must meet the income eligibility guidelines to be eligible for enrollment.  The maximum fee charged is a $5.00 co-payment per visit, but fees can be waived due to financial hardship; no one who is eligible for the program will be denied care due to an inability to pay the co-payment.

The Access to Care (ATC) Program is being established through a grant from the Maryland Community Health Resources Commission.  The Frederick Community Action Agency (FCAA), under the auspices of the City of Frederick, was awarded a grant from the Maryland Community Health Resources Commission (MCHRC) for the purpose of improving access to care for medically underserved residents through a two-pronged approach: 1) expanding the delivery of primary care services by increasing the hours of operation of the FCAA’s clinic to include evening and weekend hours and expanding the target population by opening the FCAA’s clinic to all uninsured persons (adults and children) with incomes at or below 200% of the federal poverty level; and 2) collecting and compiling resource information pertaining to major health, dental and prescription medication programs and disseminating the resource information through a printed resource guide and through an internet website.

Through a wide array of programs and services, the FCAA provides food, shelter, medical care, housing, transportation, and other forms of assistance to families and individuals who are low-income or homeless.  The FCAA's primary health care clinic serves both adults and children who are homeless; are recipients of Maryland Medical Assistance; or are eligible for enrollment in the Maryland Primary Adult Care (PAC) Program or the Access to Care (ATC) Program.  Additional program eligibility information is posted on the FCAA's website at www.cityoffrederick.com/fcaa.

The FCAA Primary Care Clinic will be holding an open house on Friday, April 27, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; the public and other health/human service providers are invited to stop by the FCAA, meet the clinic staff, learn about the FCAA's health care programs, and tour our recently remodeled clinic.
