CAREFIRST BLUECROSS BLUESHIELD NAMED TITLE SPONSOR OF THE FREDERICK MARATHON WEEKEND

Frederick, Md. --- Corrigan Sports Enterprises (CSE), a leader in sports event management and promotion, announced today that CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield (CareFirst) has committed to be the title sponsor of the Frederick Marathon Weekend, which kicks off Saturday, May 5th. This is CareFirst’s second major sponsorship of a running event. CareFirst is also the title sponsor of the popular Baltimore Half-Marathon.

CareFirst will be the event’s exclusive health care insurance provider and the organization’s name and logo will be branded throughout all aspects the event. The sponsorship will allow the event organizers to enhance the experience for the runners and significantly increase the charitable donations made to local beneficiaries.

The fifth annual CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield Frederick Marathon Weekend will take place May 5-6, and features five races: marathon, progressive marathon, four-person relay, half-marathon and a twilight 5K. A Health and Fitness Expo will serve as the place for registration and packet pick up. Last year, the event had nearly 3,000 runners, and more than 4,000 are expected this year.
