SpiresGIS KICKS OFF NEW PROJECT Enterprise Information Solutions Van to Cruise City
Frederick, MD ---- Information on the City’s infrastructure will be gathered in a whole new way! After a delay for ice and snow the City of Frederick’s SpiresGIS, an online geographic information system, will kick off the “Enter Road Info Pavement and Asset Inventory Project” on Thursday, March 15, 2007. The Enterprise Information Solutions blue van, equipped with 4 cameras and 2 GPS receivers on the roof, can be expected to draw attention as it moves slowly through the City streets. During daylight hours for approximately the next 4-6 weeks, the van will be driving all City streets capturing images needed to perform the GIS analysis on the City’s infrastructure.
SpiresGIS provides staff and the public with instant access to the City’s geographic information. SpiresGIS is the culmination of a 3 year undertaking to develop a City enterprise GIS (geographic information system). It is another way that GIS provides municipal services more effectively and efficiently, while saving time, money, and resources. Visit the SpiresGIS website at www.cityoffrederick.com.
