ADEQUATE PUBLIC FACILITIES ORDINANCE TO COME BEFORE BOARD OF ALDERMEN
Frederick, MD ---- The proposed Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance (APFO) for the City of Frederick will come before the Board of Aldermen for consideration at the Mayor and Board of Aldermen Public Meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 15, 2007. Mayor William J. Holtzinger strongly encourages citizens and property owners to attend this very important meeting.
An Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance, commonly referred to as an APFO, is a form of land use regulation that controls the timing of property development and population growth with the purpose of ensuring that the public facilities needed to serve new residents are constructed and made available with the impact of the new development.
The City of Frederick started discussions on the APFO in July 2006. Since that time, 11 public Workshop meetings have included discussions on the proposed Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance.
The Mayor and Board of Aldermen Public Meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Boardroom of City Hall, 101 North Court Street. This meeting will be televised live on government cable channel 99 and will be rebroadcast for several days following the meeting. Public comment is encouraged and welcomed.
