THE SUMMER CONCERT SERIES IS PROUD TO PRESENT THE TOM PRINCIPATO BAND IN BAKER PARK ON JUNE 24
The Summer Concert Series Committee of Celebrate Frederick, Inc., presents the unique blues sound of the Tom Principato Band on June 24 as part of the 2007 Summer Concert Series in Baker Park. The free concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Baker Park Bandshell, Frederick, Md.
Tom Principato combines his rich blues background with high-energy rock, and a highly charged, emotionally expressive delivery to create one of the most unique experiences around. Songwriter and guitarist for 40 plus years, Tom Principato was leader of the legendary band Powerhouse, an East Coast phenomenon in the 1970s.
Based in his hometown of Washington, D.C., Tom Principato and the band have toured clubs and festivals in the U.S., Canada and Europe as well as playing extensively in and around the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Area.
In addition to winning first place in the WHFS/Harmony Hut “Guitar Talent Hunt,” Tom Principato has won a total of 22 Whammie Awards from the Washington Area Music Association, including awards for Best Blues Album, Best Male Blues Vocalist, Best Blues Artist/Group and Best Blues Instrumentalist. The Tom Principato Band will blow you away with their unique rifts and renditions.
Prepare to arrive early with your blanket or lawn chair to enjoy a free Carillon performance in Baker Park beginning at 6:00 p.m. Food will be available from 6:00p.m. to 8:30 p.m. during the Summer Concert Series performance.
The Carillon performer for June 24 will be Jon Lehrer.
Jon Lehrer, Washington, D.C., is Assistant Carillonneur at the Netherlands Carillon in Arlington National Cemetery. He was recently awarded a Belgium American Educational Foundation fellowship to study carillon full-time in Belgium during the 2007-2008 academic year. This summer, Jon Lehrer will be performing concerts in Baltimore, Md., Philadelphia, Pa., Princeton, N.J., Minneapolis, Minn., Chicago, Ill., and Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
While the concerts are FREE to the public, the Summer Concert Series Committee encourages you to bring a canned food item in lieu of admission. Non-perishable items such as canned meats and vegetables, soups, peanut butter, cereal, rice and pastas are requested. All items collected benefit the Frederick City Community Action Agency Food Bank. Items will be collected at the Drees Homes Information Booth, located at the top of the bandshell steps in Baker Park.
In the event of inclement weather, please tune to 99.9 WFRE, 103.1 WAFY or 106.9 WWEG for news of event cancellation. Due to the travel time and set-up by various artists and the sound production company, decisions regarding weather are made by approximately 4:00 p.m. Therefore, if the weather is inclement at this time listen to the radio for confirmation of the evening’s performance being cancelled.
