MAYOR HOLTZINGER VETOES FY08 BUDGET

Frederick, MD -- Mayor Jeff Holtzinger has vetoed the FY 2008 Budget for the City of Frederick as approved at the May 30, 2007 Public Hearing meeting. Mayor Holtzinger stated, “The budget still relies heavily on the fund balance to support new expenditures which will be continual in nature as opposed to being a one-time expense. In addition, another concern I have is the added expenses do not appear to be based on firm data.”

The approval of the FY2008 Budget for the City of Frederick will be added to the Public Meeting agenda scheduled for Thursday, June 21, 2007. This meeting will be held in the Boardroom of City Hall at 7:00 PM and is open to the public. Public comment is encouraged and welcomed. This meeting will be televised live on local government cable television channel 99.
