TAXICAB PERMIT LOTTERY TO BE HELD JUNE 20, 2007

Frederick, MD -- The City of Frederick Taxicab Commission will hold a lottery for eleven new Taxicab Permits on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. in the Boardroom at City Hall.

In order to be eligible for selection, all applicants must have submitted a completed Taxicab Application Form, along with a certified check for $2500.00 payable to the City of Frederick, by the deadline of June 15, 2007, at 4:00. One application and the associated fee must be submitted for each permit being applied for. Applications will be accepted at the Frederick Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division, located at 2. South Court Street, between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. A successful applicant has 30 days from the award of the permit to put the taxicab on the road. Any applicant who is not selected will have the $2500.00 refunded.

Please note, if the number of eligible applicants does not exceed the number of permits available, there will be no lottery. The permits will be issued to all of the eligible applicants."

The Taxicab Commission will choose those persons to receive a taxicab permit by a random drawing of names of eligible applicants. The Lottery process is as follows:

1. Each applicant will be assigned a number based on the order of submission.

2. Each number will be printed on a separate card and placed in a receptacle.

3. The Chairman of the Taxicab Commission will draw the cards from the receptacle until the number of cards matches the number of available permits.

4. The selected applicants will be awarded a permit(s).

The Public Notice of the Intention by the City of Frederick to Issue Taxicab Permits and the required Taxicab Application Form are attached.
