NADA BRAHMA HOSTS A MUSICAL PARTY WITH A MESSAGE
AS PART OF THE CELEBRATE FREDERICK SUMMERFEST FAMILY THEATRE
What do children in Australia, Asia and Africa have in common with children in Maryland; a love of music! Celebrate this universal phenomenon with Nada Brahma as they take you on an adventure spanning six continents, a variety of cultures and ethnic instruments from around the globe. Celebrate Frederick Inc. will present this program as part of the 2007 Summerfest Family Theatre on Saturday, August 4th at 6 p.m. (note new time!).
Nada Brahma is comprised of Tim Gregory, Tracey Eldridge and Hoppy Hopkins, three cultural ambassadors working to build respect and create peace in today’s rapidly changing world. Audience members will join in an interactive journey around the globe as this lively trio explores unique ethnic instruments and the similarities they share across cultures. From the Native American flute to the steel drum of Trinidad and the thumb piano of Africa, this group brings excitement and audience fun to the study of music around the world.
Arrive by 6 p.m. for an opening performance by ESP Performing Company. The group will provide a brief dance program featuring talented youth from around Fredrick County.
In the event of inclement weather, please tune to 99.9 WFRE, 103.1 WAFY or 106.9 WWEG for news of event cancellation. Due to the travel time and set-up by various artists and the sound production company, decisions regarding weather are made by approx. 4:00 PM. Therefore, if the weather is inclement at this time listen to the radio for confirmation of the evening’s performance being cancelled.
While the performances are FREE to the public, the Summerfest Family Theatre Committee encourages you to bring a canned food item in lieu of admission. Non-perishable items such as canned meats and vegetables, soups, peanut butter, cereal, rice and pastas are requested. All items collected benefit the Frederick Food Bank. Items will be collected at the Drees Homes Information Booth, located at the top of the bandshell steps in Baker Park.
This year’s theater series would not be possible without the generous support of the following corporate sponsors.
