THE SUMMER CONCERT SERIES IS PROUD TO PRESENT RED MOLLY
IN BAKER PARK ON AUGUST 5, 2007
The Summer Concert Series Committee of Celebrate Frederick, Inc. presents the folk and bluegrass sounds of Red Molly on August 5 as part of the 2007 Summer Concert Series in Baker Park. The free concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Baker Park Bandshell, Frederick, Md.
Come and listen to the richness and diversity of each member of the Red Molly group; Laurie MacAllister on vocals, guitar and banjo, Abbie Gardner on vocals, Dobro and guitar and Carolann Slebello on vocals, guitar, bass and mandolin.
“It’s true folk music that comes from the right place. They (Red Molly) take me back to a purer time when people sang for one another just because of the love of music. . .it’s purely delightful and inspiring,” said Frank Matheis, “Frank’s Picks,” WKZE FM (Sharon, CT).
Conceived out of an impromptu gathering of festival goers at the 2004 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, Red Molly came into existence around a late night campfire where the group lulled their fellow campers to sleep with their three-part harmonies. In 2006, Red Molly was chosen to perform in the 2006 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Emerging Artist Showcase. At the festival, Red Molly earned the highest number of audience votes, and will appear at Falcon Ridge 2007!
In July 2006, Red Molly released their first full-length independent album, Never Been to Vegas, which quickly climbed into the top 30 on the Radio & Records Americana chart, an amazing feat for an independent release.
Prepare to arrive early with your blanket or lawn chair to enjoy a free Carillon performance in Baker Park beginning at 6:00 p.m. Food will be available from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
This evening’s Carillon performance will be given by Andrea McCrady, M.D.
McCrady coordinates the carillon program at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Spokane, WA, sings in the Spokane Symphony Chorale, dances in the Spokane Folklore Society, is an active volunteer for the Spokane Public Radio station and is a family physician in Spokane.
McCrady has performed at the 2000 Bok International Carillon Festival as well as the 2002 World Carillon Federation Congress and 2003 Springfield International Carillon Festival. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree in Music (Carillon Performance) at the University of Denver.
