THE SUMMER CONCERT SERIES IS PROUD TO PRESENT SOULSTICE IN BAKER PARK ON JULY 29, 2007

The Summer Concert Series Committee of Celebrate Frederick, Inc. presents the hip hop sound of SoulStice on July 29 as part of the 2007 Summer Concert Series in Baker Park. The free concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Baker Park Bandshell, Frederick, Md.
SoulStice is dedicated to releasing hip hop with a quality and vibe that surpasses the term “underground” while bringing more depth and soul than a lot of what’s on the radio. SoulStice is part of Wandering Soul, which is bringing some of the smaller artists to the forefront without pressure from stock-holders and boards of directors. Currently, SoulStice is the founder, primary investor and the only artist on Wandering Soul. As fans continue to catch the vibe and join the movement, the roster will expand to include other artists that are ready to hit listeners with the same gift for wordplay, passion for hip hop and love of the art and the culture as SoulStice.
Prepare to arrive early with your blanket or lawn chair to enjoy a free Carillon performance in Baker Park beginning at 6:00 p.m. Food will be available from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. during the Summer Concert Series performance.
This evening’s Carillon performance will be given by Lee Cobb, assistant carillonneur at Historic Bok Sanctuary in Lake Wales, Florida.
Cobb performs recitals on the 60-bell Singing Tower and is the librarian of the Anton Brees Carillon Library, the world’s largest carillon library.
Cobb has also served numerous churches as organist and choirmaster, is an accomplished tenor soloist and conductor, and a commissioned and published composer.
While the concerts are FREE to the public, the Summer Concert Series Committee encourages you to bring a canned food item in lieu of admission. Non-perishable items such as canned meats and vegetables, soups, peanut butter, cereal, rice and pastas are requested. All items collected benefit the Frederick City Community Action Agency Food Bank. Items will be collected at the Drees Homes Information Booth, located at the top of the bandshell steps in Baker Park.
In the event of inclement weather, please tune to 99.9 WFRE, 103.1 WAFY or 106.9 WWEG for news of event cancellation. Due to the travel time and set-up by various artists and the sound production company, decisions regarding weather are made by approximately 4:00 p.m. Therefore, if the weather is inclement at this time listen to the radio for confirmation of the evening’s performance being cancelled.
This event would not be possible without the generous financial contributions made by the following community-minded businesses: Spires Sponsors – Bechtel Group Foundation, CellularOne, Drees Homes, Sandy Spring Bank, Spectrum Federal Credit Union and Weis Markets; Carillon Sponsors – Comcast, COMSTAR Federal Credit Union, Creig Northrop Team – Long & Foster Real Estate, Inc., Roy Rogers – A Plamondon Company, The Frederick News-Post and Tuscarora Creek/Greentree Homes; Bandshell Sponsors – BB&T, Frederick Arts Council and Jean Peterson Design/The JaBITCo Group.
The Summer Concert Series continues every Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. through August 26th. For more information please call (301) 600-CITY or visit www.CelebrateFrederick.com .
