TRAVEL THE WORLD WITH BOB BROWN PUPPETS
PART OF CELEBRATE FREDERICK’S SUMMERFEST FAMILY THEATRE
Swing through the trees in The Congo, explore the mysteries of Egypt and test your luck in the Emerald Isle, all without leaving the Baker Park Bandshell in Frederick, MD. This rollicking trip around the globe is brought to Frederick by one of the leading producers of professional children’s theatre in the country, Bob Brown Puppets. Celebrate Frederick Inc. will present this program as part of the 2007 Summerfest Family Theatre on Saturday, July 21st at 6 p.m. (note new time!).
With over forty years experience as a major children’s theater company, Bob Brown and his wife Judy have developed a flair for knowing their audience. Delighting young children, older siblings and parents is the goal of the high-flying adventure, ‘World on a String.’ Guests will meet the Can-Can Cuties from France, Lu Chang, the incredible ball juggler from China, Mr. Punch and his wife Judy from England, Leprechaun Ryan O’Brien from Ireland and many more. Don’t miss the end of this international journey as visitors arrive in the USA with Yankee Doodle Dandy!
Frederick All Star Fusion will provide the opening performance on Saturday, July 21st. Join them for a high-energy dance and cheer routine at 6 p.m.
In the event of inclement weather, please tune to 99.9 WFRE, 103.1 WAFY or 106.9 WWEG for news of event cancellation. Due to the travel time and set-up by various artists and the sound production company, decisions regarding weather are made by approx. 4:00 PM. Therefore, if the weather is inclement at this time listen to the radio for confirmation of the evening’s performance being cancelled.
While the performances are FREE to the public, the Summerfest Family Theatre Committee encourages you to bring a canned food item in lieu of admission. Non-perishable items such as canned meats and vegetables, soups, peanut butter, cereal, rice and pastas are requested. All items collected benefit the Frederick Food Bank. Items will be collected at the Drees Homes Information Booth, located at the top of the bandshell steps in Baker Park.
This year’s theater series would not be possible without the generous support of the following corporate sponsors. The Spires Sponsors are Bechtel Group Foundation, CellularOne, Drees Homes, Sandy Spring Bank, Spectrum Federal Credit Union and Weis Markets. The Carillon Sponsors are Comcast, COMSTAR Federal Credit Union, Creig Northrop Team-Long & Foster Real Estate, Inc., Roy Rogers – A Plamondon Company, The Frederick News-Post and Tuscarora Creek/Greentree Home.
