UPDATE ON COUNTY WATER PIPELINE PROJECT
Frederick, MD --- Please be advised that the City of Frederick’s ability to draw allocable water from the Potomac River pipeline is going to be delayed due to the additional time needed to get bar screens and pumps at the Potomac River intake site. A possible December 2007 date is related to the improvements at the intake site not with the pump station on Reichs Ford Road.
Mayor Holtzinger stated “The Frederick County Division of Utilities and Solid Waste Management did a tremendous job of completing the pipeline as quickly as they did. The pipeline is done well ahead of schedule. The speed at which the County accomplished this project was tremendous. Issues with the pump station at Reichs Ford Road are being finalized. The water supply from the Potomac River pipeline is not related to the capacity of the Waste Water Treatment Plant. In an emergency, we could gravity flow water into the system at the Reichs Ford Road connection.”
