WEINBERG CENTER PRESENTS

EARTHA KITT

________________________________________________________________________

Frederick, MD ---

You may know her as TV’s Catwoman. Your children know her as Disney’s

villain Yzma from The Emperor’s New Groove. And your parents know her as the silky

voice of songs like “Santa Baby” and “Love for Sale”. She’s internationally renowned

star Eartha Kitt!   Appearing in Frederick, Maryland for one night only – Saturday, March

10, 2007 at 8 p.m, Miss Kitt’s performance is the signature event of the Center's 2006-

2007 season.   To enhance the celebration, join the Weinberg Center for the Arts Board of

Directors for a special gala pre-show dinner and post-show reception!  For more

information and tickets to an evening you won’t soon forget, please call the Box Office at

301-600-2828 or visit www.weinbergcenter.org.

Since the 1950s, Eartha Kitt has wowed successive generations of fans as singer,

movie star, stage performer and television actress, all in ten different languages. Miss Kitt

is one of only a handful of performers to be nominated for a Tony (three times), the

Grammy (twice), and an Emmy Award.  Miss Kitt has performed in over 100 countries

and was honored with a star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960.   She has

enthralled New York nightclub audiences during her extended stays at The Café Carlyle

and made a triumphant return to this epitome of chic with a sold out run

last summer. That performance has been captured in her newest recording, Eartha Kitt,

Live At The Carlyle.

Miss Kitt’s distinctive voice has enthralled an entirely new generation of fans.

Young fans loved her in the role of Yzma, the villain, in Disney’s animated feature The

Emperor’s New Groove, (2001 Annie Award for Best Vocal Performance / Animated

Feature).  Miss Kitt was also featured in the sequel, The Emperor’s New Groove II, and

recently finished recording upcoming episodes of the Saturday morning series based on

the film.  Miss Kitt has also endeared herself to young people through her on-camera

performance as Mme. Zeroni in the Disney adaptation of the classic children’s book,

“Holes”.   Great seats are still available for this once in a lifetime experience!

This season celebrates the “Jewel of Frederick’s” 80th year and Ms. Kitt’s 80th

birthday.   To celebrate both 80th year events, a selection of 150 premium theater seats in

the Front Orchestra have been reserved.   These $50 seats are available to the Gala

Dinner and Reception  attendees only.   Ticket Prices for the Gala Dinner and Reception

are an additional $80.00 per person.

As a birthday gift to the Weinberg Center, Miss Kitt will join the Board of

Directors, at a private reception after her performance on the evening of March 10th.  Proceeds from the reception will benefit the Weinberg Center Inc., the non-profit organization that supports the theater in many ways, including underwriting artistic programs. For tax purposes, only $40 is tax-deductible.  The balance represents the fair market value of the entertainment for the event. The Weinberg Center for the Arts, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization –  donations to which are tax deductible to the fullest

extent allowed by law on all  solicitations.
