LAKE LINGANORE WATER TREATMENT SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 28, 2007

Frederick, Md. --- The City of Frederick Water Treatment Department will be applying copper sulfate to Lake Linganore to treat taste and odor causing algae. The copper sulfate crystals will be diluted with water and the concentration of dissolved copper will be sprayed along the shorelines. Both the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) and the Lake Linganore Association have been contacted and made aware that this work will be taking place. This treatment is scheduled for Tuesday, August 28, 2007.

IMPACT TO AREA:

The Copper Sulfate will be applied from a boat on the water using a spray bar/wand. There should not be any impact to the public or livestock in the small dosage that will be applied.
