THE SUMMER CONCERT SERIES AND 99.9 WFRE ARE PROUD TO PRESENT Laura Bryna and Dusty Drake IN BAKER PARK ON AUGUST 19, 2007
The Summer Concert Series Committee of Celebrate Frederick, Inc. and 99.9 WFRE present Laura Bryna and Dusty Drake.
Local celebrity and talented young artist, Laura Bryna will open for country headliner Dusty Drake.
Bryna performed at the 2007 Music Fest, has a recording contract with Equity Music Group and is currently on a national tour of radio stations. It appears this country newcomer’s star is on the rise.
In Drake’s words, “I just love to sing, that’s what I’ve always wanted to do. I sing in the car, the shower, everywhere. I just can’t help it.” (1/07) And, that’s exactly what Drake has done publicly since he was 13, wherever and whenever he could. Drake started his own band, Silvarado, becoming a star country attraction in Tri-State area of Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia. He switched to writing songs and with the encouragement of his wife, Maria, moved to Nashville in 1993 to pursue that dream. Since then he has pursued and been successful in writing, singing and getting himself noticed. In 2003, “One Last Time” cracked the top 20 on the country chart. This year, he will be releasing his original album with the backing of Big Machine Records executive Scott Borchetta.
Prepare to arrive early with your blanket or lawn chair to enjoy a free Carillon performance in Baker Park beginning at 6:00 p.m. Food will be available from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
This evening’s Carillon performance will be given by Todd Fair.
Fair was the first ever non-Dutch carillonneur for the City of Amsterdam, which has employed carillonneurs to perform at the prestigious Old Church since 1537! He has taught at the Scandinavian Carillon School in Copenhagen, received playing awards in France and The Netherlands, and received the Berkeley Medal for distinguished service to the carillon art. He has presented workshops and guest recitals in nearly all the countries having carillons. He is the first and current carilloneur for the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music.
While the concerts are FREE to the public, the Summer Concert Series Committee encourages you to bring a canned food item in lieu of admission. Non-perishable items such as canned meats and vegetables, soups, peanut butter, cereal, rice and pastas are requested. All items collected benefit the Frederick City Community Action Agency Food Bank. Items will be collected at the Drees Homes Information Booth, located at the top of the bandshell steps in Baker Park.
