Weinberg Center Announces 2007-2008 Season
Tickets Available Now at Box Office

Frederick, Md. --- The curtain is rising at The Weinberg Center for the Arts! The 2007-2008 season begins on Friday, October 5th, and features an incredible variety of entertainment for the entire family, with appearances by nationally known acts, as well as the return of several the of Weinberg’s favorites. Tickets are on sale now at the Weinberg Center box office, 301-600-2828 or through the Center’s website, www.weinbergcenter.org.

The 2007-2008 season includes 60+ events presented in five series—LIVE!, Bravo! Family, Movie Time at the Tivoli, and smARTS (daytime performances for school children). Special events by community performing arts groups round out the season.

The LIVE! Series features a mix of side-splitting comedians, renowned musicians and award-winning dramas. Make sure you get your tickets early for “An Evening with Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood”. The stars of the TV show “Whose Line is it Anyway” will bring their special brand of improvisational comedy to the Weinberg for two shows on Saturday, October 20th. Audience participation is part of the show, which is never the same twice! You won’t want to miss the return of bluegrass sensation Doc Watson in January, or Beatles impersonation act 1964 – The Tribute in the spring. Both shows were sellouts this last year!

The Weinberg’s Bravo! Series includes two performances by Weinberg Center favorites. Grammy-award winning gospel group Sweet Honey in the Rock appears on Sunday, October 14th. The six powerful voices of this ensemble, combined with hand percussion instruments make the Sweet Honey experience totally unique. On Saturday, March 1, the Ahn Trio returns to the Weinberg. Their contemporary spin on classical chamber music makes for an Ahn-forgettable evening!

This season’s Family Series features several acts that are back by popular demand. The Super Scientific Circus takes a look at the science behind seemingly impossible circus acts on Tuesday, October 30th. A musical version of the best-selling children’s book Rainbow Fish teaches kids of all ages an important lesson about friendship in November. New this season, the Weinberg Center will present a special after-school performance. Preeminent Native American hoop dancer and storyteller Kevin Locke shares his cultural heritage through an amazing show of dancing, flute-playing and singing. The best part of the Family Series? Subscription tickets are only $5!

The Weinberg’s famous MovieTime at the Tivoli series is better than ever this year. The series includes an incredible 26 movies, and features classics like White Christmas and Seven Samurai that just need to be seen on the big screen. Also new this year, the series includes several Sunday matinees especially tailored for families. Plus, world-renowned organist Ray Brubacher will be back to accompany the silent movies on the mighty Wurlitzer organ, beginning with Phantom of the Opera near Halloween.

Also new this year, MovieTime at the Tivoli presents the Tivoli Ticket. This special ticket gets you into 10 different movies for only $30! At $3 per ticket, it’s one of the best bargains in town!

Membership sales are currently available, with members receiving first pick of premium seating. Series subscriptions for the 2007-2008 Season are also on sale now.
