Mayor Announces Broad Initiatives for City Employees
Frederick, MD – Mayor William J. Holtzinger has announced broad initiatives for City of Frederick employees. The new initiatives are as follows:
New “Open Range” salary structure for FY08
- revises current step system
- incorporates annual merit increase for long-tenuredemployees
3% cost-of-living increase
Additional pay adjustment will migrate employees on to new scale to ensure City remains competitive in current market
Transition to performance based compensation system
Management Training to instruct and prepare supervisors for new system
Introduce a Defined Contribution (Retirement) Plan for employees hired on and after 7/1/07
Bid out the employee health coverage for the first time in over 10 years
Further information on these initiatives will be presented at the April 11, 2007 Mayor and Board of Aldermen Workshop meeting. This meeting will be held in the Boardroom of City Hall at 3:00 PM. Public comment is encouraged and welcomed.
