BAKER PARK CARILLON TO RING IN HONOR OF VIRGINIA TECH AT NOON
FREDERICK, MD ---- Pursuant to the Executive Order from Governor Martin O’Malley, the Carillon will ring today at noon in honor of the victims of the Virginia Tech tragedy.
City Carillonneur John Widmann said carillon student Claire Marie Moblard will let the carillon ring at the noon hour as it normally does and then will ring the 3,400 pound bourdon bell, the biggest bell in the carillon, one time in memory of each victim. A brief concert of music will follow the tolling of the bells.
The carillon is Maryland’s largest musical instrument and is located in Baker Park in the heart of the City of Frederick.
