COME OUT AND ENJOY SCENTS & SWEETS

The holidays bring out the creativity in all of us, so why not let the gingerbread houses and floral arrangements at this year’s Scents & Sweets competition inspire you? Celebrate Frederick Inc. will present this year’s event Wednesday, November 29th from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center. There you’ll find holiday scenes you won’t believe are made out of gingerbread, and incredible combinations of fragrant flowers you’ll want for your dining table.

This event began in 1998 as a way to showcase local creative talent on both professional and amateur levels. The results are incredible. Past entries include an entire castle that was edible! A panel of judges will pick first and second place winners in both the gingerbread and floral arrangement categories. People’s Choice awards will be given in each category as well. Winners will be announced at 7:30 p.m.

These events would not be possible without the hard work of the volunteers of the Holidays in Historic Frederick Committee, and the following community-minded businesses: Spires Sponsors - Bechtel Foundation, Cellular One, Drees Homes, Sandy Spring Bank, Spectrum Federal Credit Union and Weis Markets; Carillon Sponsors – Adelphia, COMSTAR Federal Credit Union, Roy Rogers-a Plamondon Company and The Frederick News-Post; Bandshell Sponsors – BB&T and the Frederick Arts Council. A special thank you to 2006 Media Sponsor The Gazette and to the Tourism Council of Frederick County.

The Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center is located at 40 S. Carroll Street in Frederick. For more information on
