DOUG SEGREE BAND KICKS-OFF THE
2006 SUMMER CONCERT SERIES
PRESENTED BY DREES HOMES
Drees Homes and the Summer Concert Series Committee of Celebrate Frederick, Inc. are proud to announce that the Doug Segree Band will kick-off the 2006 season on Sunday, June 11th at the Baker Park Bandshell. The free performance will begin at 7 p.m.
There is no question of Segree’s genuine enthusiasm and love for the music he makes. A singer/songwriter out of Annapolis, MD, he speaks to his audience through acoustic guitars and spirited vocals. People are drawn to the melodic nature of the music – great songs about life, sung with conviction and performed with true passion.
Segree was recently voted best solo artist in the Baltimore/Annapolis, DC area by What’s Up Magazine. Performing solo or with his band, Segree is a mainstay in the Mid – Atlantic region sharing the stage with bands like Matchbox 20, Sister Hazel, Less Than Jake, and the Pat McGee Band.
Plan to arrive early with your blanket or lawn chair, to enjoy a free Carillon performance in Baker Park beginning at 6 p.m featuring James W. Smith, Carillonneur for The Mercersburg Academy, Mercersburg, PA. Great snack foods and drinks will be available from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.during the Concert Series performance.
While the concerts are FREE to the public, the Summer Concert Series Committee encourages you to bring a canned food item in lieu of admission. Non-perishable items such as canned meats and vegetables, soups, peanut butter, cereal, rice and pastas are requested. All items collected benefit the Frederick City Community Action Agency Food Bank. Items will be collected at the new Information Booth donated by Drees Homes, located at the top of the bandshell steps in Baker Park. A special thank you to Drees Homes for this generous donation and for supporting this year’s Series.
In the event of inclement weather, please tune to 99.9 WFRE, 103.1 WAFY or 106.9 WWEG for news of event cancellation. Due to the travel time and set-up by various artists and the sound production company, decisions regarding weather are made by 4:00 PM. Therefore, if the weather is inclement at this time, listen to the radio for confirmation of the evening’s performance being cancelled.
