Healey was interviewed by a selection committee comprised of Alderman David “Kip” Koontz; City of Frederick Chief Financial Officer John Leisenring; WCA Board of Directors President Peter Michael; and Executive Director of the Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center Catherine Mooreland.
Alderman Koontz commented that he feels Healey’s background and experience makes him highly qualified to serve as manager of the Weinberg. He added, “I believe he will embrace and expand the mission of the Weinberg in order to keep it and enhance it to be the best center for the arts our community expects.”
WCA Board of Directors president Peter Michael also expressed his satisfaction in the hiring of Healey, “Mr. Healey was the best available candidate.  The Board of Directors of the Weinberg Center for the Arts, Inc., the private support organization for the theater, looks forward to working with Mr. Healey in this time of significantly increased private support of the Weinberg Center”.
Susie Miller, assistant manager of the WCA adds that this is an exciting time for the theater, “As we begin the 80th year of the Tivoli Theater (now known as the WCA), it is exciting to begin the upcoming season with a new theater manager. In discussion with WCA staff Mr. Healey has encouraged a team concept and open dialogue.” She added, “The staff welcomes Mr. Healey and look forward to working together.”
Healey will report directly to the Mayor’s executive assistant.
Healey resides in Silver Spring, Maryland.
