SPRING COMES TO MARKET STREET
Frederick, Md. --- The City of Frederick Parks Division has partnered with the Downtown Frederick Partnership and area garden clubs to bring spring to the historic downtown area early in the form of spring flowers. In this joint effort, over 1000 ‘Delta Yellow Blotch’ pansies will be planted in the sidewalk planters along Market Street. Pansies are cold weather annuals and prefer to bloom when the temperatures are in the 40° to 60° range. Green-Walled Garden Club and Garden Club of Frederick have volunteered to help plant pansies at various locations including the Square Corner and 7th Street Fountain through the end of March. The pansies are being planted in preparation for the annual Mayfest Weekend that will be celebrated in Historic Downtown Frederick May 6.
