FREDERICK’S 4th – AN INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Celebrate Frederick and 106.9 The Eagle have joined forces to bring a classic rock legend to this year’s Frederick’s 4th – An Independence Day Celebration! Bad Company, former lead singer Brian Howe, will take to the Main Stage at 3:30 p.m. and send you back to when rock was young. Prepare for some of Bad Company’s greatest hits, including “Can’t Get Enough,” “Bad Company” and “Ready for Love.”
Opening for Bad Company is Great Train Robbery at 1:00 p.m. This band has shared the concert stage with The Allman Brothers, 38 Special, Kansas, Marshall Tucker, Charlie Daniels, Blue Oyster Cult, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
7:00 p.m. on the Country Stage, Free Country 99.9 WFRE presents Jamie O’Neal, well known for her 2001 chart topping songs “There Is No Arizona” and “When I Think About Angels.” Opening for Jamie O’Neal is The Cabalero Band at 1:30 p.m. and Dean Crawford at 4:00 p.m.
Two stages of unforgettable music is only part of many great attractions in an event that includes more family fun than ever before! Don’t miss out on the Citigroup Kid’s Zone located in the Carillon area of the Park. Packed with amusements, pony rides, a petting zoo, interactive video game tournaments and a dunk tank, this area is sure to be fun for all!

Opening Ceremony
Noon – Bandshell
Activities include a Presentation of Colors by the Frederick Police Department; The Star-Spangled Banner performed by Jennifer Bennett; Pledge of Allegiance led by Miss Frederick, Tauri Summers; Festival welcome by Mayor William J. Holtzinger; and patriotic selections by Frederick Catoctones Barbershop Chorus.
Afternoon Activities
Carillon Area
12:30 – 5:30 p.m. – Citigroup Kid’s Zone - Children’s activities and amusements including Turbo Tubs, Tree House slide, Patriotic Module 5-in-1, Survivor Jr. obstacle course, carousel, train ride, misting arch, two moon bounces, crafts, clowns, pony rides and a petting zoo, dunk tank, remote control cars, an interactive video game tournament, martial arts demonstration, and the peanut butter and jelly tent.
Fleming Avenue Area
8:30 a.m. – Chili Cook-off begins. Judging will be held at 2:30 p.m. Grand prize winner to receive a Weber Genesis grill valued at $600.
12:30 – 8 p.m. – Swimming at Edward P. Thomas Jr. Municipal Pool
1:30 p.m. – Pie eating contest. Judged by how fast you can eat a delicious cherry pie. You must be 18 years or older to participate. Great prizes!
Culler Lake Area
7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. – Volleyball tournament – visit FREDERICKvbc.org for more details
Noon – 10 p.m. – Canoes, paddle boats and Kiwi kayaks on Culler Lake
Noon – Dusk – Rock Climbing Wall
Summerjam Stage area

5:15 p.m. - Best Patriotic Dressed Competition – meet at the Bandshell at 5:00 pm

Frederick County Transit will provide FREE shuttle service from two locations this year. The first runs from the Thomas Johnson High School parking lot to the corner of Bentz and Second Streets. The second runs from the Harry Grove Stadium parking lot to the corner of Bentz and Second Streets. The shuttles provided are handicap accessible. The shuttle service will leave Thomas Johnson High School every ½ hour beginning at 11:30 a.m. The last shuttle back to the school will leave Baker Park at 10:30 p.m. A second bus will follow the Thomas Johnson route beginning at 4:15 p.m. It will make its final run from Baker Park at 10:45 p.m. The service from Harry Grove Stadium will leave every ½ hour beginning at 11:30 a.m. with the last shuttle back to the stadium leaving Baker Park at 10:30 p.m.
