DJ WILLIAMS PROJEKT TO PLAY IN BAKER PARK

Soul jazz band, The DJ Williams Projekt, will perform at the Baker Park bandshell on Sunday, July 9th. This free performance will begin at 7pm as part of this year’s Summer Concert Series presented by Drees Homes.

DJ Williams grew up in Richmond, Virginia and started to hit the music scene at 16 years old. A ground breaking instrumentalist and self-taught guitarist, Williams has established a unique sound in acoustic and electric guitar. Over the past several years, Williams has played at venues up and down the East Coast, completed two solo albums, and has just finished a collaborative album. Richmond, Virginia is still his main headquarters where he has developed a very strong following.

Plan to arrive early to enjoy a free Carillon performance in the park beginning at 6 p.m. featuring Jon Lehrer, Carillonneur, Washington, DC. Great snack foods and drinks will be available from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. during the Concert Series performance.

While the concerts are FREE to the public, the Summer Concert Series Committee encourages you to bring a canned food item in lieu of admission. Non-perishable items such as canned meats and vegetables, soups, peanut butter, cereal, rice and pastas are requested. All items collected benefit the Frederick City Community Action Agency Food Bank. Items will be collected at the new Information Booth located at the top of the bandshell steps in Baker Park. A special thank you to Drees Homes for this generous donation.

In the event of inclement weather, please tune to 99.9 WFRE or 103.1 WAFY for news of event cancellation. Due to the travel time and set-up by various artists and the sound production company, decisions regarding weather are made by 4:00 PM. Therefore, if the weather is inclement at this time, listen to the radio for confirmation of the evening’s performance being cancelled.

This year’s programming would not be possible without the generous support of the following corporate sponsors: Spires level sponsors are Bechtel Foundation, CellularOne, Drees Homes, Sandy Spring Bank, Spectrum Federal Credit Union and Weis Markets. Carillon level sponsors are Adelphia, COMSTAR Federal Credit Union, Roy Rogers-A Plamondon Company, and The Frederick News Post. Bandshell level sponsors are BB&T and the Frederick Arts Council.

The Summer Concert Series will continue each Sunday evening at 7 p.m. through August 27th. For a complete schedule, to volunteer, or for more information, call 301-600-CITY (2489) or visit www.BakerParkConcerts.com .
