THE UNITED STATES AIR FORCE HERITAGE AIRE CELTIC ENSEMBLE PRESENTS A SPECIAL WEDNESDAY NIGHT CONCERT IN BAKER PARK

The United States Air Force Heritage Aire Celtic Ensemble will perform a special Wednesday night concert at the Baker Park Bandshell on Wednesday, June 21st for the Summer Concert Series presented by Drees Homes. The free performance will begin at 7 p.m.

Heritage Aire is the newest component ensemble of the USAF Heritage of America Band at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia. The group made their debut performance with the Heritage of America Concert Band during the “Holidays, Past and Present” concert series in December 2004.

Under the direction of MSgt David Boone, Heritage Aire blends a contemporary musical approach with traditional Celtic music style to create a stunning musical tapestry. The members of Heritage Aire perform on traditional instruments such as the Irish flute, tin whistles, Scottish small pipes, and bodhran. They also employ modern instruments like the acoustic guitar and oboe to achieve their unique sound.

Heritage Aire celebrates America’s great cultural diversity by performing concerts in communities and schools throughout a six-stage region. The ensemble also provides entertainment and musical support for military protocol events.

Plan to arrive early to enjoy a free Carillon performance in Baker Park beginning at 6 p.m. featuring Steven Ball, Carillonneur from The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Great snack foods and drinks will be available from 6 p.m. to
8:30 p.m. during the Concert Series performance.

While the concerts are FREE to the public, the Summer Concert Series Committee encourages you to bring a canned food item in lieu of admission. Non-perishable items such as canned meats and vegetables, soups, peanut butter, cereal, rice and pastas are requested. All items collected benefit the Frederick City Community Action Agency Food Bank. Items will be collected at the new Information Booth donated by Drees Homes, located at the top of the bandshell steps in Baker Park. A special thank you to Drees Homes for this generous donation.

In the event of inclement weather, please tune to 99.9 WFRE, 103.1 WAFY or 106.9 WWEG for news of event cancellation. Due to the travel time and set-up by various artists and the sound production company, decisions regarding weather are made by 4:00 PM. Therefore, if the weather is inclement at this time, listen to the radio for confirmation of the evening’s performance being cancelled.

This year’s programming would not be possible without the generous support of the following corporate sponsors: Spires level sponsors are Bechtel Foundation, CellularOne, Drees Homes, Sandy Spring Bank, Spectrum Federal Credit Union and Weis Markets. Carillon level sponsors are Adelphia, COMSTAR Federal Credit Union, Roy Rogers-A Plamondon Company, and The Frederick News Post. Bandshell level sponsors are BB&T and the Frederick Arts Council.

The Summer Concert Series will continue each Sunday evening at 7 p.m. through August 27th. For a complete schedule, to volunteer, or for more information, call 301-600-CITY (2489) or visit www.CelebrateFrederick.com.
