ROCK CREEK ESTATES TO
HAVE STREETLIGHT UPGRADES
Frederick, Md. --- Please be advised that the City of Frederick Street, Light and Traffic Control Department will be upgrading all streetlights in Rock Creek Estates currently powered by direct-bury series circuits. All streetlights will be converted to parallel circuits routed in conduit and their present lamp systems, both incandescent and high-pressure-sodium, will be converted to QL induction lamps. The color of light emitted by the new streetlights will be the same as incandescent. Phase 1 includes Shookstown Road and Meadowdale Lane. Phase 2 includes Crestview Court and Rock Creek Drive. Streetlights in specific project areas will be inoperable for duration of 45 to 90 days. All ground areas that are disturbed by this work will be restored before completion of the project. The project will begin on or after July 11, 2006 and will be completed by the end of December 2006. The result will be a safer and more reliable lighting system that is more economical to operate and maintain. The residents will enjoy refurbished poles and new light heads.
IMPACT TO AREA:
During construction, this effort will affect residents as follows:
1) Streetlights in specific project areas will be inoperable for a short duration (45-90 days). We will return the lights to service as quickly as possible.
2) The installation of underground conduits and new pole bases may disturb the ground within the City right-of-way - specifically, the ground between the curb and sidewalk. We will attempt to minimize the areas disturbed. All areas that are disturbed will be restored before completion of the project.
