THE BLACK CAT BLUES BAND TO PLAY IN BAKER PARK

The Black Cat Blues Band will perform at the Baker Park Bandshell on Sunday, August 6th, for the 2006 Summer Concert Series presented by Drees Homes. The free performance with begin at 7 p.m.

This Northern Virginia based band is sure to get you on your feet with their high-energy music. Deriving influences from Mississippi Delta artists through present day, the band offers an eclectic mix of blues, classic rock, R&B, and swing. With a widely varied repertoire, with songs and influences for their originals from the likes of Albert King, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, and Elmer James, The Black Cat Blues Band’s music undoubtedly reaches the soul of audiences young and old.

Plan to arrive early to enjoy a free Carillon performance in the park beginning at 6 p.m. featuring Claire Marie Moblard, Carillonneur, New Market, Maryland. Great snack foods and drinks will be available from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. during the Concert Series performance.

While the concerts are FREE to the public, the Summer Concert Series Committee encourages you to bring a canned food item in lieu of admission. Non-perishable items such as canned meats and vegetables, soups, peanut butter, cereal, rice and pastas are requested. All items collected benefit the Frederick City Community Action Agency Food Bank. Items will be collected at the new Information Booth located at the top of the bandshell steps in Baker Park. A special thank you to Drees Homes for this generous donation.

In the event of inclement weather, please tune to 99.9 WFRE or 103.1 WAFY for news of event cancellation. Due to the travel time and set-up by various artists and the sound production company, decisions regarding weather are made by approx. 4:00 PM. Therefore, if the weather is inclement at this time, listen to the radio for confirmation of the evening’s performance being cancelled.
